Our Approach
Dr. Anna Abbott brings New Wave Chiropractic to Island Birth House, part of the St. Augustine Birth Collective community. She works alongside the midwives, pediatric providers, and birth workers families already know here, as part of their care team.
Most families come to her during pregnancy, after birth, or with a new baby. Dr. Anna is Webster certified, a technique focused on pelvic balance in pregnancy, and she cares for moms through pregnancy, the fourth trimester, and beyond. Parents often bring their kids in for fussiness, sleep or feeding struggles, or big feelings.
Adjustments are gentle and specific, matched to your child's age, size, and needs. For babies, the pressure is fingertip-light. You stay with your child the whole time, and Dr. Anna explains everything before she does anything. Adults are welcome too: Dr. Anna sees partners, parents, and adults from the community who want gentle, nervous-system-focused care.

Is it safe to see a chiropractor while pregnant?
For most pregnancies, yes. Prenatal chiropractic uses gentle, pregnancy-specific techniques, and Dr. Anna positions you comfortably at every stage. She reviews your pregnancy at the first visit and works alongside your midwife or OB. If anything in your history calls for a check-in with them first, she'll tell you.
Is chiropractic safe for babies?
For most babies, yes. Newborn visits use fingertip-light pressure, and you stay with your baby the whole time. Dr. Anna has advanced training in newborn and pediatric chiropractic care. She starts with a detailed history and explains everything before she does anything. If anything in your baby's history calls for a check-in with your pediatrician first, she'll tell you.
Does insurance cover it?
Some plans do and some don't. Even when chiropractic care is covered, most plans cap the number of visits, and after that you pay the full rate that was billed to insurance. Many families find our office rates more affordable than going through insurance. We're out of network, we accept HSA and FSA cards, and we can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance.
